Survive your visit to Finch Hatton Gorge

Take extreme care around cascades and fast flowing streams. Six people have died in accidents around the Finch Hatton Gorge area over the past 40 years. Many more have been seriously injured―some of these include spinal injuries. These incidents are specifically due to slipping on the wet slippery rocks and jumping into water holes—please take warnings seriously and do not enter a restricted access area. The self-service kiosk at this park has been decommissioned.

Visitors need to book their camping permit before they visit. Book online, at an over-the-counter booking office or by phone.

Mobile Phone reception is available at Eungella township or at Sky Window.

Camping area features: camp beside Broken River, where you may be able to spot a platypus.

Location: 600m from Broken River day-use area, which is about 5km from Eungella township.

Access: can be reached by conventional vehicles, 600m along the gravel road.

Number of sites: 8 sites. Maximum 4 people per site.

Camp sites are suitable for: tent camping, a short walk from your vehicle. Not suitable for camper trailers, caravans or motorhomes.

Camp site surface: grass and dirt.

Facilities: hybrid toilet in camping area. Nearby day-use area has toilet facilities, information centre, picnic tables and gas barbecues. All water must be treated before drinking or using for cooking.

Open fires: allowed in fire rings only (except when fire bans apply). Fuel stoves are recommended. Bring your own clean milled timber.

Generators: not allowed.

Essentials to bring: all food and drinking water, sturdy rubbish bags, insect repellent, sun protection, first-aid kit and reliable torch. Read more about before you visit.
